The Netflix series, Evil Genius, is based on the bank heist involving collar bombing that occurred in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was directed and published in 2018 by Barbara Schroeder. The tragedy took place on August 28, 2003, the initial plan of Marjorie Diehl, the mastermind of the heist, was to have Brian Wells, the victim that was murdered, rob a bank, while her and Bill Rothstein, the builder of the bomb, parked nearby and watching as the robbery in full action. How did everything occur? Who was all really involved with this tragic event?
Brian Wells, a regular pizza deliverer; last person you would think of to do such things. Somehow he walked into the the bank, PNC, he had a cane and a note. Handing the note in, the women read that he was to receive $250,000 in cash within 50 minutes or the bomb was to explode. And it did, the man lost his life, who was he to go to? Nobody.
After three years, finally, they began to realize that Marjorie Diehl was the person to blame for the entire situation including Bill Rothstein. He had passed, due to medical issues of course. The entire investigation is intense and will have you on your toes.
Overall, it is a great show, I would recommend to many who like crime stories filled with suspense.
