Former student Nikolas Cruz opened gunfire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, February 14th, 2018, leaving at least 17 adults and students dead. Law Enforcement responded to reports of shooting at the school shortly before 3 p.m., they also say Cruz used a .223 caliber, AR-15 style firearm for the shooting. Investigators say the gunman pulled the fire alarm to draw students and teachers out of their classrooms while the school had already had a fire drill earlier in the day, causing confusion to all from the second one. While many left the building, others stayed inside and took cover while being on lockdown and texted their goodbyes to loved ones while others recorded the horrific scene as gunshots went off. Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of Premeditated Murder, one for each of the people he is accused of killing. This was determined the day after the shooting in court.
