America is sanctioning Russia and any imports of goods from the country due to international conflict in Eastern Ukraine and their occupation of Crimea. The U.S. has strongly opposed to both clearly and firmly to Russia and they still continue to act accordingly so the sanction is going to be enacted Monday (1-19-18) [1]. A sanction is a threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule [2]. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said in a statement to CNN, “The US government is committed to maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and to targeting those who attempt to undermine the Minsk agreements,” [3]. Russia has continued to interfere and disobey the Minsk protocols enacted in 2014 that stated to halt the war in the Donbass region of Ukraine [4] and Russia with the conflict in eastern Ukraine is a direct mutiny to the agreement enacted. Further sanctions are also being spoken about regarding sanctions on Russia due to there alleged interference with the 2016 election in which Donald J. Trump has strongly spoken out against signing. Further sanctions will also be spoken about being put into place Monday as well (1-19-18) [5]. The story is still developing (1-26 to –).
