In 2015, Zachary Myers sexually assaulted a 14 yr. old girl on a hiking trail near her Lakewood home. A Jefferson County Jury found Myers guilty on nine accounts related to the case including sexual assault, stalking, enticement of a child and exploitation of a child. The 14 yr. old victim was walking her dog on a hiking trail along Bear Creek on October 15th of the following year. When suddenly, Myers came behind her, covered her mouth with his hand and dragged her away from the trail where he sexually assaulted her, according to court records. Its reported the two met through social media a month before the assault and Myers was even able to track down her phone number. Investigators say Myers told the girl he was 16 when the two starting texting each other back and forth. Eventually, the conversation became sexual once he both asked for and sent her naked pictures. After the assault, Myers texted her saying he’d, “had great time” and tried to plan seeing her again. After those texts, the 14 yr. old victim deleted the social media app and tried to block his number. Myers had still found a way to contact the teen and threatened to kill himself if she didn’t agree on seeing him again. It was learned in April 2016 that Myers had a history of blackmailing underage girls into sending him sexual photos. He has similar cases pending in both Weld and Denver counties.
